1966 F100 -T5 Shifter Mod

Image
I wanted to make a post to keep up with the shifter mod on the Camaro 15 degree shifter.  The Camaro shifter seems to have a rubber vibration isolator . I took a pipe wrench and kept turning until it broke loose. Probably going to find a piece of DOM steel tube and make a taller "Truck Style" shifter. Cut the shaft off and welded on a shift lever

1966 Ford F100-Cleaned and painted the underbelly

So I removed the cab with my engine lift. I will probably build a jig to put it back on.  I cleaned up the supports, blew out the mouse nests, and mud dauber nests. Sanded , seam sealed, and painted the bottom with my John Deere Blitz Black semigloss enamel. After several hours I misted the bottom with Dupont Truck bed liner.

Slick Sand on Cab

Image
I did not post pictures of  blocking out and re-applying filler to the cab. I got the cab pretty straight sanding out the bumps and stock spot welds that are on the back of the cab etc. I then sprayed the Slick Sand with my Harbor Freight 2.0 gun. This stuff sprays like on thick. If you leave a little in your mixing cup it looks like a hockey puck. It gets hard as a brick in just hours. This is a good choice since there is very little shrinkage if any. This stuff will break easy with 320 and a long block and provide a hard crisp edge where you need it. Filled all but 2 spots for switches in lower dash  ! Really coming together.

Starting the bodywork on the cab

Started to do body work on the cab. I fixed the gas tank opening and primed the top and back with high build primer. The dash received  some extensive metalwork to make a smooth dash. I filled the speaker grill, glove box, ash tray and misc. holes. A little glazing putty and a couple coats of high build primer.
