F100 Custom Dash Panel from Intellitronix

Image
I just received my cool dash panel from Intellitronix.  It is one of their new products. This is the Artic White. They also come in red, blue etc. For $795.00 you get everything you need from adjustable gas gauge to a programmable speedo, sending units, turn signals, high beam indicator, auto dimming for night time, and ebrake warning light in the middle. As a bonus it has a built in clock/odometer/trip screen (bottom middle) which is real cool too.  Comes complete and uses your stock or aftermarket gas gauge. The idea is to place this in the modified stock dash. I removed my stock dash, cut out the center, epoxied in a 1/4 wood panel and covered it with Flannel. I Glued the flannel down with 3m glue and then added fiberglass resin to make a smooth dash. See the video below to see how you can do it. Here is where I got the idea to modify my dash. Here is the dash after all smoothed out . I created a template from the dash and placed it . To...

NEW US Built Axle U Bolts- ESPO Springs & Things

Image
Bolting the rear axle down is very important and finding U-bolts that are US Made is very hard these days. I gave my friends at ESPO Springs & Things a call @ 1-800-903-9019 or 570-672-9413. www.springsnthings.com  for my U-Bolts. I told Laura what I needed and she had these in stock. These are great u-bolts with the high nuts. Give them a call for Springs, U bolts or whatever.

1966 F100 Bed almost done--Raptor Liner

Image
So I tried my hand at U-POL Raptor Liner on the bed. I got the clear that you mix with toner. The body color (toner) was added 100ML. It turned out a dark brown. Compared to black this looks brown. It turned out well and hid some of the dings on this old girl. A little wood and a gas tank and we are all set

Mounting an aftermarket steering column 1966 F100 Part 2

Image
Finally purchased an IDIDIT steering column. It was the universal 32" tilt column. IDIDIT measures the column from tip to tip so be aware of that. I got the double D end. The stock steering column had the steering mount welded top the column. The 65-66 columns fit tight again the dash where the earlier 2wd's had a space. I am watching pennies again and not wanting to purchase a $100.00 mount I came up with a cheap but effective solution. I reached in my bolt bin and found a 2" Exhaust Clamp that I bought years ago. Measuring the underneath of the original it measures 3 1/2". So I took some stock steel and welded the clamp to the steel. Then I cut the center out leaving the tabs. I then took the original clamp and removed the metal up to the holes on both sides. I then cut down the thickness on each side to account for the tabs. A picture is with a thousand words so here is 1,000,000 words. I had to cut the ear off a little on one tab to get this this assembly...

1966 F100 Mounting a Hydraulic Clutch Pedal -Video

Image
Video of the location on my truck Just bought a Hydraulic Clutch from Modern Driveline for my 1966 F100. So this kit needed to be modified to fit my 66. Seems that the kit was designed around the 1961-64 firewall design. As many as you know the 65-66 2wd used a different firewall and inner fenders. This is NOT the right orientation of the bracket but is the location that I have to use since the firewall  has the ribs. The pedal needed a new location point for the rod. This is a great spot to use. One option is to create a sleeve out 3 1/2 inches from the pedal. Another is to weld on a bracket. I actually added a 1/4 spacer to align the rod (not pictured) The knockout is the exact location I used. The inside bracket is used for several applications and the master will sit slightly off due to the way it mounts inside.

Cab Insulation- Peel-N-Seal

Image
Here is yet another Peel-n-Seal install..I used 3-4 rolls of Peel-n-Seal (lost count) and Lowes FrostKing self sticking duct insulation on the roof. I then used the Reflex bubble wrap found in the insulation section on the floor, back and firewall.

DIY Paint Booth- UreKem Satin Clear

Image
Painted the engine with a undisclosed color and UreKem Satin Clear. I sprayed the firewall to see how this color with UreKem Satin Clear. This stuff sprays awesome!  So I built a paint booth inside my garage and sprayed the bed. Unfortunately the clear was "Clear" and shiny. So you MUST Shake and Stick Stir this stuff before you mix. The flatteners will settle on the bottom. Wife loved it but not the look we were going for. Much better results. Paint Booth had three solid sides with the front being removable. Sprayed the bed inside with Upol Rapter Liner and tinted it the same "brown" color. I used 100 ML per instructions and it looks very dark. It is not black but is darker than I wanted. BTW --Putting a wood floor down as well.. Forgot the mention my deal. I found an 18" explosion proof fan for $120.00 on CList. Score! Stuck the fan in the garage s...
