1966 F100 Build-PROJECT DISRUPTIVE

The front tires came in today and I got them mounted up.  This beats the old hard front tires on Jag wheels...I may have to put some 1" spacers between the spring bottom to lower it just a tad. Probably going to wait and see if these springs settle. I really am starting to like this logo. I may have to do a post on how to do this...

Got the Cooper GT tires in today. Opted for the 275/60-15's  on the rear.  Running two different bolt patterns front to rear may be a challenge since they do not make a 5x4.75/5x139.7 dull drilled wheel. The only options are 1) no spare and call AAA, run two spares-no cool, or use a 5x139.7 wheel with an adapter for the front. Or get a custom wheel drilled... Color combo looks good. Nothing worse than to have a nice truck only to rattle like a can of marbles going down the road. I recently got the tailgate painted and coated with Raptor Liner. After watching a video on Youtube I decided this was the route to go.  It actually it was hard nailing down the part number for some reason.  So I am posting this so you can see which part number to get. The pivot tailgate bushing looks like the original but it has a poly disc instead of the factory steel one. One note with this conversion or option,  if you plan on hauling heavy loads ot is not suggested since there is a possibility of this cracking.  The part number is 4.9102G .  

Once the wheels were prepped with a red scotch bright I needed to figure a way to paint both sides. I saw on the inter-webs that a guy painted wheels on a long board.  He was able to get both sides. The front wheels are 7" and the rears are 8" .  I got an 8 ' deck board and cut it in half.  I took 2x4 pieces and made the deck board 6 1/2" wide   The 2x4's actually provided extra height so the rims would not hit anything.   So now,  what do you do after they are painted?   I opted (after looking at hanging them with wire etc) to take two pieces of plastic pvc and make two rails on two cement blocks. The two small "rub" areas will be on the back lip anyway. I propped up the middle just in case! Checking to see how it would roll.... Took some automotive wax and degreaser and cleaned off any dust from the scotchbrite.  Painting the wheels in a 55 degree garage was going to be fun.  I took all my sp...

I saw many posts about insulation and what guys were using. I opted for the peel- n seal from Lowes and the foil style bubble wrap. The truck cab was covered first with peel-n-seal then 3M glue applied and bubble wrap applied. The Doors also were cleaned and a large square of peel-n-seal was applied.      

I am just now posting this info about how I turned my garage into a paint booth. Just a word of caution...If you have a gas water heater or any open flame in your garage you may want to reconsider this option.  I found an explosion proof tubeaxial fan on Craigslist for $120.00 I divided my garage in half so I can paint then have a clean area to park my parts that I painted,  The first task was to build a filter box to house my exhaust filters. This filter box sat in the rear of the booth and next to the 36" exit door.  The fan was mounted higher on the box as you can see. The box had mesh screen behind the front filters that heald then in place. The exhaust filters did a nice job of filtering the heavy particles.   I bought a donor door to fill the opening. Then I cut the 18" hole in the door for the exhaust. When I was done I replaced the original door.    The garage was cut in half and I created a plastic doo...

Project Disruptive by its' name, causes on to believe that we do not fit the mold.  Yes, going the shiny 20x12 Torque Thrusts may be tempting we are opting for the more traditional route. Looking at F100's on the inter-webs I found a truck to model after.  It uses stock Ford wheels and 57 Ford Fairlane Wagon Hub Caps, Dog dish, poverty cap, whatever you call them.
