Jag IFS Welded IN

 This is where I started.............

Below is where I ended up...

The tires I chose were 235/60-15 which were not as tall as the stock ones so the wheel opening looks a bit high.  If you choose to keep stock height then you can follow the directions below.
Looking back I would take about 2 " or so inches out of the bottom rail raising up the cross member.  This way the truck would sit much lower.
As it stands I will probably add about a 1" spacer between the lower spring perch and the lower arm to lower the truck about 2"-2 1/2 "

I was following a post from a guy who had a 64 which has a straight axle and a narrower front frame rail. FYI

2/12/2021 -UPDATE: Wanted to post the finished alignment spec sheet that we got done today based on the way we mounted this cross member.

Setting the frame at approximate ride height I leveled the front frame. I also made sure the cross member was level. The cross member base sat flush on the frame rails and gave me just a little off bubble of center. It should be good here. I welded the outer frame rails to the cross member and then made cardboard templates to fill the tower to frame areas.
The metal was cut and placed into position front and rear.

I boxed in the frame with 1/8 " steel and welded the crossmember to that as well.

The old motor mounts were removed so I had to put gussets in to support the rack mounts.

Plan is to test fit the SBC and make mounts. Then sandblast and paint. I have a suspension rebuild kit and the Caliper rebuild kit ready to go.
Yes, I said SBC.....
