1966 F100 LS Swap Part 1

Unfortunately the SBC had a cam lifter that wore down and put metal shavings in the engine so I opted to use my 2003 5.3 Tahoe motor and  transmission as a new  donor..

Below is a perfectly running 208,000 mile Chevy Tahoe That I used.

The plan is to use as much as possible off this vehicle.
On to removing the front end to make the engine /transmission removal easier.

The wiring and computer were marked for location and removed. Later I pressure washed years of grease off the motor/ transmission.

The front clip was removed on the 66 to allow to fit this beast into the opening.

Cleaned the intake and the plate to get ready for the new gaskets and knock sensors.

A Special thanks to Ugly Truck Experience for the video and personal help getting this engine ready to go another 100,000 miles.

With their direction I was able to purchase and install the following:

  •  High Volume Oil Pump
  • Timing Chain /gears
  • Front and rear main seals
  • Valley gaskets and knock sensors
  • Oil Pan gasket
  • Water Pump
  • Fuse Panel

New Main Rear Seal Installed

I installed a new Dog Bone because I was there. Not really necessary but I did not want to take any chances

Below is the original and the new Billet one from Improved Racing.

New Timing Set installed.

 New oil pump installed
