Fauxtina Paint Job

Image
I have been wanting to do a patina paint job so I decided to go for it. I used two cans of Rustoleum Black for a base and Rustoleum  Linear green in the new select a spray cap.    Sanded and taped off the truck. I used rope to lift the window rubbers to tape a clean line and get paint behind the rubber.  Painted Black and then green leaving the sun worn areas very light. On to sanding to great the patina. Not for everyone , you either love it or hate it !

LS Swapped F100 New AC

Image
We have Air   After successfully installing the LS engine, the next step was to tackle the AC system. Although the Vintage Air unit and lines were still usable, we needed a revised approach. Initially, we encountered a setback with the double v belt pulley on the Sanden compressor, which was incompatible. Faced with a choice between spending $120 on a new serpentine pulley or a bit more for a new, ready-to-install compressor, I opted for the latter and purchased both a new compressor and drier from Summit. Mounting the compressor posed another challenge since the original location had no space available. Ultimately, I decided to go with the Dirty Dingo LS bracket designed for the 508 compressor. To keep costs down, we used the existing longer hoses instead of replacing them. However, I'm considering upgrading to Vintage's new thinner hoses in the future, which feature "user-friendly" ends that eliminate the need for crimping .

1966 F100 LS Swap Wiring

Image
LS swap-wiring the harness      Getting to this point took some real effort. It looks real scary but had some great help from the following   LT1swap.com and YouCandoit2 and Ugly Truck Experience         Getting all the wires labeled is the key. Note: you will have to use a heat gun or your wife's hair dryer to remove the transmission wiring plug as it is glued in from the factory. also needs heated to re-install      Here we are all removed and ready for the de-pinning [removal of unwanted wires]  The trick is to leave all the connectors on and follow lt1swap.com online color guide and 4 part Youtube series on this  Wire loom and tape removed from the harness.  The wiring getting pulled out of the two PCM plugs and rolled up for removal or relocation.  A large table or two are great to spread things out. I have videos from lt1swap.com and Youcandoit2 playing over and over, and over cross referenc...

1966 F100 LS Swap Part 1

Image
Unfortunately the SBC had a cam lifter that wore down and put metal shavings in the engine so I opted to use my 2003 5.3 Tahoe motor and  transmission as a new  donor..  Below is a perfectly running 208,000 mile Chevy Tahoe That I used.        The plan is to use as much as possible off this vehicle. On to removing the front end to make the engine /transmission removal easier.          The wiring and computer were marked for location and removed. Later I pressure washed years of grease off the motor/ transmission.   The front clip was removed on the 66 to allow to fit this beast into the opening.       Cleaned the intake and the plate to get ready for the new gaskets and knock sensors. A Special thanks to Ugly Truck Experience for the video and personal help getting this engine ready to go another 100,000 miles. With their direction I was able to purchase and install the following:  High Volume Oil Pump ...

1966 F100 New Bench Seat

Image
I saw some cool seats in an F100. I asked the owner if I can sit in them . They were amazing. They were bench seats from a 1992-1996 F150. These were the cloth style with removable headrests. So off to the local Ford boneyard for some seats. Turns out you can use the original 66 tracks and they bolt directly to the 1992-1996 seats. We bought this bench seat  for $100   This seat also came with power lumbar supports but the pump was broke.. I purchased a new pump for $20  and it works great!           We took it to a local upholstery shop and let them do their magic. Ended up with a black vinyl with a fabric center with straight lines. Turned out great.      These fit great because of the back is thinner and concave in the sitting area.
